چکیده
tendon just proximal to the navicular bone tubercle and bifurcates to medial and lateral branches. The medial branch of the deep branch of the medial plantar artery nourishes the skin of the medial aspect of the foot along the midlateral line of the first metacarpus. A flap can be extended to the middle of the first metacarpus distally and the medial malleolus proximally. The maximum size of a flap based on this branch is reported to be 5– 10cm (Fig. 1).7

Correction of Long Standing Proximal Interphalangeal Flexion Contractures with Cross Finger Flaps and Vigorous Postoperative Exercises
PURPOSE We reviewed the results of cross finger flaps after surgical release and vigorous postoperative exercises for long-standing, severe flexion contractures of the Proximal Interphalangeal (PIP) joints of fingers. MATERIALS AND METHODS In 9 patients, all contracted tissue was sequentially released and the resultant skin defect was covered with a cross-finger flap. The cause of the contrac...

متن کاملA Previously Discounted Flap Now Reconsidered: MatriDerm and Split-Thickness Skin Grafting for Tendon Cover Following Dorsalis Pedis Fasciocutaneous Flap in Lower Limb Trauma
OBJECTIVE The dorsalis pedis flap has reliable vascularity; however, its use is limited by reports of donor site morbidity including infection, delayed healing, exposure of tendons, and later contractures. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate its continued role in lower limb trauma when the donor site is reconstructed with MatriDerm to avoid complications. METHODS A 65-year-old man pr...
متن کاملCoverage of defects over toes with distally based local flaps: A report of four cases
Reconstruction of the distal foot, especially of the toe has always been a challenging problem. Various methods have been tried with variable success rates and limitations. Presented here is a series of four cases, where distally based flaps were used. Two of them were Extensor Digitorum Brevis (EDB) muscle flaps and the other two were first dorsal metatarsal artery (FDMA) based skin flaps. One...
متن کاملSHORT COMMUNICATION Reverse medial plantar artery flap
Coverage of soft tissue defects of the sole has been one of the major challenges of reconstructive surgery. The sole is a specialized structure, with thick skin and septae in the subcutaneous tissues which make it especially resistant to damage from shear forces and high pressures typical of the sole. Replacement by non-sole skin such as by dorsalis pedis, reverse sural and free flaps will be m...
